The former India skipper, Sourav Ganguly has admitted young left-arm wrist spinner, Kuldeep Yadav will be India’s strength in the ongoing tour of England.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep returned with a five-for in the first T20I at Old Trafford against England. His figures ensured England a collapse in the English middle-order. Kuldeep’s wickets included three wickets in his third over when he had Morgan (7) caught in the deep and Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root stumped by MS Dhoni for golden ducks, as England subsided from 95-1 just after the halfway mark to post 159-8.

However, in reply, KL Rahul single-handedly steered India’s innings after losing Shikhar Dhawan early.

He continued his form from the IPL and stood tall to the trust shown towards him. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also chipped in useful contributions, as Kohli ended the proceedings with a towering six.

Ganguly seemed pretty impressed with the young spinner and labelled him India’s strength on the ongoing tour. Further, he hoped India would play in him in longer formats as well.

He [Kuldeep] is a wicket-taker for India. He is India’s strength in this series — in T20 cricket, in one-day cricket and hopefully, India will play him in the Tests as well,” Sourav Ganguly said during post-match analysis on Sony Six.

The Prince of Kolkata also noted Kuldeep is learning to bowl in the shortest format and he knows how to restrict boundaries.

He is learning how to bowl in T20 cricket. Kuldeep plays a lot of T20s, so he knows about not giving away boundaries in good overs. He is willing to let the batsman take a single and go to the other end,” he concluded.
