The smile said it all after Virat Kohli dispatched Liam Plunkett for a maximum in the fourteenth over during the third T20I on Sunday. It was perhaps the latest version of helicopter shot that made Kohli smile.

Plunkett bowled a fuller delivery just outside the off, inviting Kohli to go for the shot. And the India skipper duly obliged by unleashing an outrageous shot. He smoked the ball over long-off with utmost ease before expressing his surprise by flashing a big smile on his face.

Here is a clip of that stunning shot:

Coming to the game, India thrashed England by seven wickets to win the game and the three-match series.

Asked to bat first, England posted a challenging 198 for eight in the allotted 20 overs. Openers Jason Roy and Jos Buttler gave the hosts a blazing start by adding 94 runs in just 7.5 overs. Both the openers departed cheaply, but it did not slow England down. After 11 overs, they were 118 for two and were looking well set to post well in excess of 200.

However, Hardik Pandya dismissed Eoin Morgan, Alex Hales, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow to stall England’s charge. As a result, England failed to finish strongly.

In reply, India were off to a shaky start. They lost Shikhar Dhawan (5) and KL Rahul (19) cheaply. However, Rohit Sharma scored a stunning century to take India home with eight balls remaining. Virat Kohli (43) and Hardik Pandya (33 off 14) also made useful contributions.

Speaking after the game, Kohli lauded his team’s fightback.

“The comeback from the bowlers was outstanding. At one stage we thought they’d end up getting 225-230 which would’ve been tough. But the character they showed, that’s something we’re very proud of. Just hit our areas better I guess (in the second ten overs). We have the quality to bowl wicket-taking deliveries as well. Applied decent pressure on the batsmen and pulled the game back nicely. 25-30 runs in this format can be massive,” he said.
