It was a brilliant century by Jos Buttler which delayed the defeat of England in the third Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham against India. There was no doubt that it was a special knock. It came at a time when England was done and dusted, and India was just a potential wicket away from sealing the victory on day four. Buttler made his Test debut in Southampton.

Buttler was dropped early in the innings by Rishabh Pant. He played a couple of streaky shots. But overall it was a great knock. In the process, he also shared a brilliant stand of 167 runs with Ben Stokes, who chipped in with a useful half-century.

The fourth Test is currently in progress. England has won the toss and has elected to bat first. They have already lost the wickets of Keaton Jennings, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Alastair Cook.

Buttler will come out to bat in a while at a venue where he made his Test debut four years ago.

Hence the stumper has some sweet memories from the Rose Bowl in Southampton. He will be hopeful of a big score when he comes out to bat.

During an interview with Sky Sports ahead of the start of the o Test, Buttler spoke on different aspects.

Jos Buttler recalls sweet memories of Southampton:

“Four years ago, I made my debut on this ground, so there are some nice memories to be with me today. It’s obviously frustrating for Jonny, any time for any injury is frustrating in the sport. He’s worked very hard on his wicket-keeping. Hopefully, he’ll be back to full fitness soon,” he said.

“I don’t really have one (a long-term goal). Test cricket has come back sooner than I imagined. I was targeting being back with Lancashire for some red-ball cricket, so I’m delighted to be involved,” Buttler stated.

“The series is set up really well, and hopefully we can put in a really good performance today and get back to the type of cricket we played in the first two games,” Buttler said.
