Of late, India’s unorthodox bowler, Kuldeep Yadav has been the centre of the attraction for quite a while now. His extraordinary performances in the limited-overs format paved the way for him in Test cricket as well. Meanwhile, the former Indian spinner Dilip Doshi feels Kuldeep Yadav is too raw for Test cricket. There were many expectations from Kuldeep Yadav ahead of the five-match Test series against England.
However, he wasn’t given a chance in the first Test and later got picked when the conditions were purely playing a villain role to the spinners.
Kuldeep Yadav should work on his flaws – Dilip Doshi
The former left-arm-orthodox spinner is settled in England for quite a few years now. Meanwhile, he made his walk to Nottingham to watch India almost winning the game of day four of the Trent Bridge Test. However, England is still fighting with one wicket in their hand.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Times of India, Dilip Doshi explained his opinions on the Indian spinners. Speaking of Kuldeep Yadav, Dilip added he has seen Kuldeep Yadav failing to handle his non-bowling hand properly.
”Kuldeep Yadav is a young kid who is learning, still too raw for Test cricket. He is very slow in the air because his non-bowling arm falls apart very early in his delivery stride,” Doshi said,
“It’s fine in T20s and ODIs where you only bowl four or 10 overs. But your deficiencies get exposed in Test cricket too fast,” Doshi added to his lines in a chat with Times of India.
I am Happy for Ashwin and Jadeja – Dilip Doshi
Coming to other classic spinners in the Indian team, Dilip Doshi expressed his happiness for them. He added saying watching Ashwin trusting his stock deliveries is a pleasing sight.
Of late, Ashwin tried a lot of variations, but Dilip Doshi wants Ashwin to stick with his stock delivery.
Meanwhile, he asked a place for Ravindra Jadeja in the next Test. With Jadeja being very quick and accurate in his line and lengths, Dilip Doshi feels the Saurashtra cricketer will be very successful.
”I am very happy that Ashwin has understood the importance of his stock ball – the off-break. For a good spinner, 98 per cent of his deliveries should be the stock ball and he was earlier bothering a little too much about his variation. He is a much-improved bowler and if he is fit, I think he is going to play a significant role,” Dilip Doshi said.
”Jadeja is quite good you see, he bowls steady and straight and with the DRS there, you get a lot more leg-before. I would love to see him play the next Test match,” Doshi added.
However, India’s spin department is in safe hands. They have got the bowlers who can deliver the goods for the team at home and away conditions effectively.
