India’s flamboyant batsman KL Rahul is proud of the way his team competed in the five-match series. The series scoreline says 4-1. However, there is no denying the fact that the series was well fought. India was right in the series but could not make the most of advantage situations. On the other hand, KL Rahul had a poor run of form in the first nine innings of the series.
Rahul scored 299 runs in the ten innings. In fact, 149 of those 299 runs came in the final innings of the series. The Indian opener finally came to the party when it was too late in the series. However, this blistering innings must have added a shot in the arm for him.
KL Rahul wasn’t at his best.
It was Rahul’s first England’s tour and thus it was never going to be a walk in the park. The Karnataka batsman struggled to get going against the inswinging delivery. Rahul was not able to pick the ball coming into him. Therefore, he was trapped in front for most of the times.
Meanwhile, it is well known that KL Rahul is one of India’s technically correct batsman. However, he could not come up with better plans against England seam bowlers.
On the other hand, Rahul was at his best in the final innings. He took the attack on England’s bowlers and dominated them from the get-go. In fact, he was able to show the perfect amalgamation of defence and attack.
The right-hander picked his areas and catapulted his attack on the hosts. Rahul put together an alliance of 204 runs with Rishabh Pant to give a ray of hope to the tourists.
Furthermore, Rahul was brilliant in the slip cordon for India as he held some fantastic catches. KL Rahul took to Twitter to share his thoughts after the series. Rahul said it is a great summer for them, however, it was a hard journey for them.
Rahul post read, “Great Summer here in the UK.?? Been a long and hard Journey for us. Proud of the way we competed. Onwards and Upwards. ??”.
