Veteran England fast bowler Stuart Broad has predicted the scoreline of the ongoing five-match Test series before second Lord’s Test following their 31-run win in the first Test against India at Edgbaston. So much so, England vs India 2018 red-ball opener turned out to be very close one in Birmingham.

Meanwhile, England turned the table in the morning session of day four to shift the momentum in their favour. Needing 84 runs to win, India lost Dinesh Karthik early in the day. James Anderson brought the ball in from good length spot taking Karthik’s edge that settled in the hands of Dawid Malan.

In the end, it was England who held their nerve in their overall 1000th Test to lead the series 1-0. Ben Stokes led the way picking up four crucial wickets after conceding 40 runs in 14.2 overs – to give the hosts a thrilling win. England completed a dramatic turnaround on another day out for the bowlers in Edgbaston.

The onus was on Kohli, who after scoring a brilliant 149 in the first innings, once again looked in ominous touch.

With the balance shifting, Joe Root turned to Stokes, who did the trick for his side. He first got rid of the Kohli for 51 and followed it up with Mohammed Shami – to reduce India for 141 for eight.

With lanky pacer Ishant Sharma playing some good shots, India still had the finest of hopes. But two brilliant deliveries from leg-spinner Adil Rashid and Stokes ended India’s hopes of taking a significant lead in the series.

The next Lord’s Test is starting on August 9.

Broad had a very average game at Edgbaston as he returned with only two wickets. However, he bowled some good line and length and bowled in partnership with other seamers to tame India’s batting line-up.

Meanwhile, the ageing seamer returned from an injury lay-off and will take some time to be back into the groove. But Broad is likely to play a pivotal role in the ongoing Test series.

Following the Test win at Edgbaston against India, Broad has predicted the scoreline for the first two Tests of the five-match series. He feels it will be 1-0 or 2-0 in England’s favour or it can culminate in a draw at 1-1.
