The famous author of ‘Kane and Abel,’ Jeffrey Archer feels that Test match on weekends at Lord’s produces a taste of English high life. Archer, who is one of the most famous fictional authors of all time has a craze for the Test cricket in particular. Archer’s comments came during the ongoing Test series between England and India.

Archer belongs to that elite club that encompasses the people who have two things in their life – success in professional life and eventually love for the game of gentleman’s game cricket.

“It’s your paper that has written 15 million people have read my books. Well, that’s quite a lot,” Archer told Times Of India.

Interestingly, he was speaking regarding the defeat of India in the second Test at iconic venue at Lord’s.

Jeffrey Archer on his new book:

The author is delighted with his new book as he received a significant feedback. Many critics have called his new book better than ‘Kane and Abel.’

“If that’s so, it must be something. The other day I met your players at the Indian High Commissioner’s residence. Ashwin was particularly charming, he came up to me and demanded my new book and a photograph with him.”, he said.

The legendary author in a joyful manner termed him as English skipper. He said that he is the “natural captain of England.”

“The fact that I can’t bat, bowl or field is a feeble reason not to invite me to captain the English team,” he maintained.

However, Archer in an unconventional approach said that he has a great regard for whites. He said that it happen to be VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid that make him happy instead of Twenty20 format.

“That’s not cricket my friend, this is. Cricket is
Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman batting through the day to beat the Aussies, not T20,” Archer thundered.

The Clifton Chronicles that is of seven parts achieved a lot of success. However, Jeffrey Archer was more interested in Test cricket while visiting Lord’s stadium. England will take on India in the third Test at Trent Bridge on Saturday (August 18).

“I was great friends with Nawab of Pataudi. He was the cricket captain of Oxford, and I was the athletics captain. Let me tell you, he was an old-fashioned gentleman even when he was 18,” he concluded.
