Team India skipper Virat Kohli entered the record books for an unwanted reason. He became only the third Indian skipper to all five tosses in the ongoing five-match Test series.

The two other captains with this unwanted feat are Lala Amarnath and 1983 World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev, who achieved this feat against Windies.

Meanwhile, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi remains the only Indian skipper to win all five tosses in a series. It was against England back in 1963-64.

When asked about losing the fifth toss on a trot, Kohli said that it is not in the control of the captain.

However what they have to do is to bowl in the right areas and look to take things forward from there on.

Losing the toss has been a blessing in disguise on certain occasions. However, for India things could have been different had they won at least a couple of tosses.

India has competed in the series quite brilliantly. However, they have failed to seize the opportunities at crucial junctures of the game. They were in a winning position in the first Tests at Edgbaston and the fourth Test.

India had reduced England to 80 for six in the previous Tests. From there on, it was a brilliant knock from Sam Curran which allowed England to post a competitive score of 246 runs.

Captain Kohli has led from the front who lavishes praise on Alastair Cook. At present, he has scored 544 runs in the series so far with a couple of centuries and three half-centuries. He is the leading run scorer in the series among both the teams by a country mile. Their bowlers have given an opportunity to the batting unit.

However as mentioned by vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane in a press conference, it is the batsmen who have led the bowlers down.

The fifth and the final Test is currently underway, and India will end the series on a winning note. The pitch looks a batting paradise. This might be a big opportunity for India and their batters to get among the runs.

It’s also the final Test match for former English skipper Alastair Cook.
