Day two of the third Test between India and England started off with Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin starting off proceedings. India started the day with the score reading 307 for six. They would have definitely wanted to get somewhere over the 350 mark. At day two lunch, England post 44 for no loss.
However, the English bowlers had other plans in mind. Pant left the deliveries outside the off stump quite well in the initial stages.
Ashwin found three streaky boundaries through the slip cordon to get India over the 320 mark. Pant who had left the ball brilliantly till then finally fell to the trap and poked at a full-length delivery outside the off stump from Stuart Broad.
The southpaw got an inside edge which disturbed his timbers. From there on, it was a downward slide for the visiting team.
England vs India: Broad and Anderson in the business for England
Superb delivery from Stuart Broad dismissed Ashwin. It came tailing in and breached Ashwin’s defence. Mohammed Shami came out in the middle to join Ishant Sharma. He struck a good shot of his very first delivery.
However, the temptation to go for big shots brought about his downfall and James Anderson dismissed him. Jasprit Bumrah could only face a delivery as he was cleaned up by a brilliant delivery from Anderson.

The score of 329 was always going to be a good one especially seeing the helpful conditions.
However, India would have wanted somewhere over 350 especially after starting the day’s play on 307 for six. They lost their last five wickets for just 22 runs. For the home team, it was Keaton Jennings and former skipper Alastair Cook, who opened the innings.
Both the batters survived a few close shaves. It was Shami who started proceedings with comeback man Jasprit Bumrah. Both failed to hit the length on a consistent basis which allowed England batters to score some easy runs. They played quite well and took England to lunch without the loss of any wicket.
While Cook remained unbeaten on 21, Jennings was batting on 20.
