Team India is all set to lock horns against England in a five-match Test series starting on 1st August in Birmingham. It will be a highly anticipated battle between two top-class teams. India got a solitary practice match to get them used to the English conditions ahead of the sterner test which beckons. The three-day practice game against Essex Cricket was exactly the opportunity for India and skipper Virat Kohli to showcase their skills ahead of the actual test.

It was also an opportunity for the skipper to make his fans feel secure about his performances in England. The free-flowing stroke-maker scored a brilliant 68 off 93 deliveries in the first innings.

Kohli resurrected the innings with Murali Vijay. It was after India lost three quick wickets. Kohli’s innings was studded with 13 fours. He looked in great touch and it will be ominous signs for the English team. Moreover, he will definitely look to make an impact in the Test series.

Following his knock, the official Twitter handle of Essex Cricket decided to congratulate Kohli taking an indirect cheeky dig at him.

“This guy’s not bad at cricket… 50 up for @imVkohli off 67 balls!”. The tweet was not taken very well by the fans of Virat Kohli and Team India.

Hence he is not bad at cricket:

Virat Kohli had a poor run in England in 2014:

Kohli had a horrendous time in England last time around in 2014. He was fishing at deliveries outside the off stump. The current skipper ended up making 134 runs in 10 innings. He is a matured player now and will look to make a substantial impact on his second tour of England.

It will be a big opportunity for him to prove himself both as a player and a captain. However, given his stature as a player, he doesn’ need to prove to anybody. He has been a  champion batsman.

Moreover, he has also done a great job as a skipper in relatively brief captaincy career so far.

Meanwhile coming back to the practice match, it ended in a tame draw. Dinesh Karthik was the top scorer for India with a fluent 82.

Essex Cricket managed to score 356 in their only innings. Paul Walter scored a magnificent 75. He was also quite impressive with the ball. Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma bagged four and three wickets each.
