Fans Tear Apart Rohit Sharma For His Diwali Message

India star Rohit Sharma has been garnering only praise in recent months because of his stunning performances on the field. He was the stand-out batsman for India at the World Cup in England. The right-handed batsman scored a record five centuries to help India finish the league stage at the top and make it to the semifinals.
Recently, he opened in Tests for the first time in his career and hit the ground running. In the three-Test series, the India opener scored three centuries in four innings. He scored two in his very first Test and then scored his first double century in the third Test of the series. Rohit Sharma finished the series as the highest run-scorer and walked away with the Man of the Series award.
He will now be leading India in the forthcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. Regular skipper Virat Kohli has been rested for the series and thus Rohit Sharma will take charge of the team. India will host Bangladesh for three T20Is and a couple of Tests. With the batsman doing so well in recent months, it is not at all surprising that the fans have been lavishing praise on him.

However, on Sunday, he faced the wrath of the Indian fans because of his message on Diwali. Just like other cricketers, the India star too took to Twitter to wish his compatriots. But along with the message, the batsman asked others not to burn firecrackers. He posted a video of dogs being scared due to firecrackers and wrote:
“Happy Diwali to all my fellow Indians. Let’s hope this Diwali brings more light and shine to us. Let’s light up Diwali with diyas and keep these furry ones in mind before bursting any crackers. It was horrible to see them this scared.”

The fans were absolutely furious with Rohit Sharma’s tweets and did not take long to slam him for the same. While some asked him to stop his hypocrisy, some dug out his old tweets where he talked about his love of burning firecrackers.
Here are some of the reactions from the fans:

Sharma ji, one can take out any video from the data library, to justify one's point. I have another video to show. Everyone should celebrate Diwali his/her own way. "My way or the highway" is certainly not the way. Happy Diwali. https://t.co/WokLWf5R5f
