Gautam Gambhir Clears his Relationship with MS Dhoni, Expresses his Sorrow Over 2015 World Cup Snub

Over the years, there have been speculations about a sour relationship between Gautam Gambhir and former India skipper, MS Dhoni. Meanwhile, the southpaw cleared the air on the much-talked-about status quo with the Ranchi-born wicket-keeper batsman. However, Gautam Gambhir was one of the critical components for India in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka. Furthermore, Gambhir also admitted he was left disappointed, as he was not given a chance in the team for the 2015 World Cup.

No rift with MS Dhoni – Gautam Gambhir

Meanwhile, ahead of Delhi’s Round 5 game in Ranji Trophy, Gautam Gambhir astonished the fans by saying why he had quit the game. In a video, he explained his body was giving him the hint that his time is up and thus finally decided to decide on retirement.

In addition to, the 37-year-old has struggled a lot to get back into the national team for a long time. He has also been struggling to put consistent performances for in IPL as well as domestic cricket.

Furthermore, Gambhir’s physical conditions are restricting him from playing cricket. The left-hander spoke to NBT in an exclusive interview addressing various topics. However, when asked about the relationship between him and MS Dhoni, he cleared there was no rift between them.

When also asked about the possibilities of farewell, Gambhir said,

“I don’t think a farewell game should be held for any cricketer.”

However, for Gautam Gambhir, the ridiculous thing was not getting a chance in the 2015 World Cup and help hi steam to defend the title.

“Some players who played with me got the opportunity to play in 2-3 World Cups. While I got to live that feeling only once, I am happy that the experience ended with the team winning the title. When someone plays a key role in helping the team earn the title, he should be given an opportunity to defend it too. It’s sad that I couldn’t be a part of the 2015 World Cup.” Gambhir said.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir will play his last game for Delhi against Andhra in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19.
