Australia are playing a fearless brand of cricket and are indeed a tough team to beat in their own backyard. In fact, they are riding high on confidence in the form of relishing wins of late. Not long ago, Australia invited Pakistan to play three T20Is and two Tests.
However, the Aussies came out on top much to the visitors’ annoyance as they won both the series with relative ease. Though the T20I opener was called off without a ball being bowled due to rain, the hosts won back-to-back games to clinch the T20I series. Soon after that, Australia approached Test cricket with full of enthusiasm.
The hosts once again humiliated the visitors in the longest format as they won by an innings and 5 runs in Brisbane Test and then they followed it up with 48-run innings victory in The Adelaide Oval, registering a 2-0 clean sweep over the visitors. After that, they played three-match Test series against New Zealand and they won all of them comfortably. This goes to show how dominant Aussies are at the moment.

The fact that they are performing so well does not surprise the team coach Justin Langer, under whom they beat India on their soil last year and had a wonderful summer at home of late. After losing two games, Australia won three games in a row to clinch the ODI series in a convincing fashion. Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir reckons it is Justin Langer who has helped switch gears.
“I also had a chance to attend one of Langer’s coaching workshops at the WACA. With each passing day I was getting convinced that he can be the man to take Australian cricket forward,” he added.
“So, recent results for Australia are not surprising to me. He is putting the team back on track, step by step. Langer is not travelling with the Aussies for this tour but he clearly has got the team on track. To me, the current Australian team is not Finch’s team or Paine’s team but it is Langer’s side,” Gambhir added.
