Gautam Gambhir suggests Indian players should play out of their skin in South Africa

The discarded opening batsman Gautam Gambhir believes the No. Test side India under the dynamic leadership of Virat Kohli should face every situation owing to the commitment and the temporary.

“India really has to play well to beat them,” Gambhir was quoted as saying by PTI.

The left-handed batsman Gambhir reiterated it would be an arduous task for India against a quality side led by Faf du Plessis.

“It’s going to be a tough tour because South Africa is a very good side, especially in their own backyard,” Gambhir added.

Gambhir asserted the hosts like Proteas have a brilliant bowling line-up which is further comprised of a decent batting department.

“They have got quality bowling, they have got quality batting,” Gambhir further added.

Pertinently, India might not be having the good record in South Africa, but the team under the star batsman like Kohli would be eyeing to give their best during the gruelling challenge on the Proteas soil while adding he is expecting India to deliver.

“Ultimately, the no.1 side should be able to win in every condition. I hope India continues the same form what they have shown at home,” Gambhir remarked.

As it is the massive challenge to shred the overseas tag of being poor, but the 36-year-old Gambhir wants his national side to come good at every different situation.

“They should go to South Africa with a lot of confidence, a lot of belief as the no.1 Test side and I hope they can deliver there,” Gambhir stated.

Moreover, India is scheduled to play the bilateral series which includes three Test matches, and the series opener will kick off with the first Test in Cape Town on January 5, 2018.

Apart from South Africa series India is also scheduled to play in England and Australia where the surface is traditionally supposed to assist more to the batsmen and fast bowlers rather than spinners.

However, having the spectacular series at home, India would be relying on their strength and Kohli would be the key player for the side which has topped the Test charts following the brilliant run and all-round performances.

However, Kohli leadership would further face a stern test following the dominance at home against top-notch sides in the form of Australia, England and New Zealand in the recent past in the traditional past.

“I hope they have got the confidence from what they have done in the last two years. Even if they have played the bulk of their cricket at home,” Gambhir concluded.

India has the heavy batting side which is expected to be tested in African conditions where the ball is expected to move prodigiously.

Interestingly, having the staggering record under his belt as a skipper, Kohli has registered 20 wins in 32 Test fixtures.

India is also scheduled to play six One-day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals.
