The Winnipeg Hawks registered a comprehensive victory by 46 runs in the second match of an inaugural edition of the Global T20 Canada at the Mapel Leaf North-West Ground in the King City.

Hawks batted quite brilliantly and posted a big total of 203 runs on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Ben McDermott was the top scorer for the Hawks with a well composed 68 off 46 deliveries.

Moreover, Darren Bravo also chipped in with a useful 54 which helped them get past the 200-run mark.

Most of the Montreal Tigers batters got off to fluent starts. However, none could convert it into a big one as the Tigers were bowled out for 157 in the final delivery of the 19th over.

Dwayne Bravo and Junaid Siddique bagged three wickets between them.

Darren Bravo and McDermott shine:

It was the skipper of the Montreal Tigers who won the toss and put the oppositions in. David Warner was making a comeback after 3-4 months.

The southpaw was castled by a great delivery from Lasith Maling after making a solitary run. Ben McDermott and Lendl Simmons shared a good partnership of 69 runs between them. Simmons was dismissed on 35 but McDermott kept going.

McDermott was joined by Darren who also played a terrific knock. the southpaw looked in complete command of proceedings and smashed three fours and five sixes during his knock of 54 off just 29 deliveries.

South African batsman David Miller also provided the late impetus with a quickfire 35 off just 15 deliveries.

The score of 202 was always going to be a tough one to chase for the oppo. Malinga was the pick of the bowlers for Montreal’s bagging a couple of wickets for 19 runs.

Dwayne brilliant with the ball:

The Montreal got off to the worst possible start losing Dwayne Smith in just the second delivery of the innings.

Most of the batsmen got off to good starts but couldn’t convert it into a big one. Sikandar Raza was the top scorer with a 13-ball 30 which included a couple of fours and three sixes.

Well, right from the start, there were quite a few impressive innings. But that push wasn’t there which never really allowed them to go after the target.

They were eventually bowled out for 157 in 18.5 overs. Dwayne Bravo was quite spectacular and bowled some exceptional slower deliveries. He finished with figures of three for 24 in his allotted four overs to peg back the opposition. Junaid Siddique, who has a similar sort of an action like Shahid Afridi also chipped in with three wickets as the Hawks won quite convincingly in the end.
