Former India batsman Virender Sehwag has taken a sly dig at Chennai Super Kings  after the latter suffered yet another crushing loss in IPL 2020. The MS Dhoni-led side, on Friday, suffered a 44-run defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals. Prior to that, they had lost to Rajasthan Royals.

In both the games, their batting looked clueless and directionless as the batsmen rarely showed the intention of going for the win. On Friday, the three-time champions managed to post only 131 for 7 while chasing 176. Right from the start of the innings, they never looked in contention to chase down the total.

The CSK batsmen struggled to deal with Delhi’s spinners as the latter’s spin duo of Axar Patel and Amit Mishra bowled 8 overs collectively for just 41 runs. Fast-bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje did not let CSK off the hook either. Throughout the chase, CSK’s run-rate hovered around 6.

And even though MS Dhoni promoted himself and came out to bat at number six, it did not change the team’s fortunes. In the previous game against the Royals too, the CSK batsmen did not show any urgency while chasing 217. They went on to finish their innings on 200 but the match was not as close as the scoreboard suggest.

It was only after MS Dhoni hit three sixes in the final over, CSK managed to touch the 200-run mark. And as CSK’s batting woes continued on Friday, batting legend Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to rub more salt on their wounds. Taking a dig at them, Virender Sehwag wrote:

“Chennai ke batsman simply not getting going. Glucose chadwaake aana padega next match se batting karne.”
