Former Indian bowler Harbhajan Singh has applauded the efforts of Air India to rescue people from the Chinese city of Wuhan. The world has been shocked by the epidemic coronavirus that originated in China and is now spreading across the globe.

More than 200 people have died from the disease that has been declared a global health emergency by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Positive casualties of coronavirus have been found in Australia, France, USA, and seven other Asian countries besides China. The Chinese city of Wuhan has been worst affected by this outbreak.

A large number of people got entrapped in China as part of the travel ban imposed.

However, Air India has rescued more than 300 people from Wuhan, as their efforts were saluted by Harbhajan on Twitter.

Harbhajan applauds Air India for helping Indians stuck in Wuhan:

Harbhajan hailed the efforts of Air India on Twitter, for rescuing 324 passengers from China.

He wrote, “The national carrier Air India once again comes to the rescue – this time to evacuate Indians from Wuhan, the site of the outbreak of coronavirus. This mission begins today with a Jumbo 747 operating between Delhi and Wuhan. Jai Hind.”

The first case of the disease originated in December last year, but since then the casualties have increased radically meaning the Chinese government had to take an action.

Naturally, they decided to lock down Wuhan and other cities, to stop the spread of novel coronavirus.

This, in turn, had problems of its own as a large number of people got stranded in China, despite them being healthy. The travel ban affected more than 56 million people across more than 12 cities.

From the 324 people rescued in the first flight, 95 people have been taken from Delhi airport to Indo-Tibetan Border Police Chhawla camp in Delhi for further medical assistance.

Air India’s Director of Operations Captain Amitabh Singh will personally lead the second Air India flight from New Delhi to Wuhan.
