The ‘Nawab of Najafgarh‘ Virender Sehwag has recently opened up on the 2011-12 CB series team selection controversy. Sehwag has been fearsome with the bat on-field and now he doesn’t fear anyone before speaking off the field. He described as to what took place during the 2011-12 CB series in Australia and why did the rift took place.

It is notable that team India played the 2011-12 CB series in Australia without the likes of Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, and Gautam Gambhir respectively.

Till date, it was believed that MS Dhoni was the reason behind not including these three in the squad. After the loss, Dhoni accepted that it was his call to drop them as it would affect the Indian fielding in a great way.

Post the statement, there was news of a huge rift between Dhoni and Virender Sehwag because of this. Some even blame Dhoni for ruining the career of Sehwag.

Sehwag has now revealed the entire controversy that took place.

Speaking to Cricbuzz after the India-New Zealand game Sehwag said, “When MS Dhoni said in Australia that the top three are slow fielders, we were never asked or consulted. We got to know from the media. He said at the press conference but not at the team meeting that we are slow fielders. Talk at the team meeting was that we need to play Rohit Sharma who is new and that’s why there will be rotation policy. If the same is happening now (with regards to Pant’s case), that’s wrong.”

Team India has failed to find a replacement for Dhoni in the limited-overs format. Rishabh Pant has been given numerous chances but the young lad has disappointed the fans and the team management. He has failed miserably with the bat and the gloves.

Tables turned when he suffered a concussion in the first ODI of the three-match series against Australia and since then, KL Rahul has been the wicket-keeper batsman for India in white-ball cricket.
