Amla was the fastest to 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 ODI runs. In fact, he was deemed as a Test batsman in the initial phase of his career but scaled great heights in his ODI career as well.
Amla was one of South Africa’s best batsmen.
The talismanic batsman also became the first and only South African batsman to score a triple hundred in the longest format of the game. Amla scored 9282 runs in 124 Test matches at an average of 46.41. The flamboyant batsman scored 28 centuries and four double tons in red ball version.
Amla amassed 8183 runs in 181 One Day Internationals at an average of 49.47. The right-hander scored 27 centuries and 39 fifties in his ODI career. Furthermore, Amla accumulated 1277 runs in 44 T20I matches at an average of 33.61. Thus, Amla had a great career and savored success in all the three forms of the game.
There was a touch of class in Amla’s batting and he was one of the most technically correct batsmen of the modern-day generation.

Amla took to his Instagram handle to thank all the support. The post read as, “Thanks to everyone for the wishes, messages, and calls. Wow! It was truly an amazing journey with the Proteas, one that I was honored to be a part of.
So many valuable lessons learned and countless memories made during an incredible #proteafire journey.
It’s all the friends and teammates who have actually become family that i walk away richer for. Aww man..probably a book load of stories and memories. ❤
Until then I look forward to the next chapter of making more cricket memories on different grounds throughout the world.
Hashim”.
