England pacer Jofra Archer has revealed he suffered racial abuse following his five-day ban for breaking coronavirus protocols. The Barbados-born star breached the team’s bio-secure protocol by returning to his home last week Monday after the First Test against West Indies.

As per the protocols, the players and staff are supposed to only stop at the designated stations during their travels. While all other members of the team followed the rules, Jofra Archer did not. He reportedly went to his home in Sussex where he is said to have met his girlfriend.

Just few hours before the start of the ongoing second Test in Manchester, the ECB confirmed that the allrounder has been dropped from the team for the game. He had to undergo self-isolation and after two negative Covid-19 results, he has been cleared to play the third Test.

And ahead of his comeback, Jofra Archer has revealed how tough things were for him during the isolation period. The World Cup-winner revealed he was treated as a criminal and was also racially abused.

“Some of the abuse I have taken over the past few days on Instagram has been racist and I have decided enough is enough,” he told Daily Mail.

“I will not allow anything to pass, so I have forwarded my complaints to the ECB and that will go through the correct process,” he added.

‘I haven’t committed a crime’:

Jofra Archer was forced to spend five days in isolation in his Manchester hotel room after breaching the protocol. He faced heavy criticism from all around for his action. The England star was also subsequently fined and received an official warning by his England bosses, while director of cricket Ashley Giles claimed his actions “could have been a disaster” and cost cricket “tens of millions of pounds.”

The right-arm pacer admitted that he made a mistake but was quick to state that he did not commit any crime.

“Yes, I made a mistake in not driving to Old Trafford directly from Southampton between matches. But people make mistakes. I know what I did was an error of judgement and I have suffered the consequences of that.

“I accept I put the other guys at risk. I did not follow the advice and therefore apologised to my team-mates, to the West Indies team and to everyone involved in the series.

“But I haven’t committed a crime and I want to start feeling myself again. This whole week has been extremely tough and to spend five days in isolation has given me a lot of thinking time,” he added.
