England opening batsman Jonny Bairstow had a great time in his debut season of the Indian Premier League while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Bairstow scored 445 runs in the 10 innings at an average of 55.62. The right-hander scored his runs at a staggering strike rate of 157.24. Bairstow also became the leading run-getter in the debut season as he had surpassed Shreyas Iyer‘s record.

On the other hand, Jonny Bairstow had a great season while opening the innings with his Ashes rival David Warner. The southpaw scored 692 in the 12 matches of the season and he is currently the leading run-scorer of the season. Thus, both the batsmen played a key role in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s reaching the last four.

IPL comes up with its advantages.

Meanwhile, Bairstow stated that David Warner played a key role in the franchise’s success as he contributed in many ways. The wicket-keeper batsman believes the ball-tampering saga changed Warner as a person.

“I think that experience (ball-tampering) can only change you as a person. He was a very good team-mate, he passed on a lot of knowledge about local bowlers, game-plans, pitches, everything. He was excellent,” Bairstow said in an interview to The Daily Telegraph.

Bairstow added that he has made a good connection with Warner after a successful partnership for the Orange Army. Both the batsmen were instrumental in the success of the team and they have built that mutual respect for each other.

David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have a connection now.

“We can say hello now. We did not have a connection before, but now we’ve played together and done well together and had a good partnership it will make a difference.

“We spent five weeks together having dinner and coffees. It changes things but it will still be England versus Australia,” he said.

Meanwhile, it is going to be a huge summer for Jonny Bairstow as the World Cup and the Ashes is on the cards. Bairstow will like to carry his good form going in the crucial two events for the English team.

“It is huge. It is the biggest summer I will ever be involved in. It is the biggest ever summer for English cricket full stop,” he said.

“A World Cup and an Ashes; it is going to be amazing. You dream of winning them. If you can’t dream about that and think what that is going to feel like then what is the point (of playing)?”

Jonny Bairstow will play an imperative role for the England team in the World Cup. Bairstow has done a great job in the recent past and he would like to continue in similar fashion in the ODI showpiece.
