Sri Lanka’s opening batsman Dimuth Karunaratne has jumped to the seventh position in the latest ICC Test rankings. In fact, the southpaw batsman scored a total of 356 runs in the recently-concluded two-match Test series. On the other hand, South Africa’s emerging pack leader Kagiso Rabada has lost out on his summit position.

Consequently, the Lankan left-hander Karunaratne was adjudged as the Player of the Series after a terrific show. Thus, Sri Lanka’s opener moved to a career-high rating of 754 points. In fact, Karunaratne scored his runs at a staggering average of 118.66.

Moreover, the Proteas pace gun Rabada could not come up with wickets in the spin-friendly conditions. Thus, England’s experienced bowler James Anderson has taken the numero uno position in the ICC Test Rankings.

Dimuth Karunaratne had a dream series against South Africa:

Ravindra Jadeja, Vernon Philander, and Ravichandran Ashwin grab the third, fourth and fifth place respectively in the rankings.

Meanwhile, speedster Dale Steyn, who went wicketless for the first time in his career in the second Test, slipped four positions to take the 24th place.

Furthermore, Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram also slipped in the Test batsmen rankings. Proteas veteran batsman Hashim Amla is down by three places to take the 14th spot in ICC Test Rankings.

However, former Australian captain Steven Smith continues to be at the pinnacle of the batsmen rankings.

Simultaneously, Theunis de Bruyn, who scored a fighting hundred in the last innings of the series against Sri Lanka. He also climbed up the rankings tree. So much so, the right-hander jumped 43 places to occupy the 105th rank.

Promising Proteas spinner Keshav Maharaj, who scalped 12 wickets in the second match, jumped three places to reach the 18th place in the ICC Test Rankings.

Meanwhile, former Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews, who scored a fine 71 in second innings moved up by four places to take the 24th place. Dinesh Chandimal, who missed the series due to suspension is at the eighth place.
