India was able to tick the right boxes against West Indies in the 34th match of the ICC World Cup 2019 at Old Trafford as they won convincingly by 125 runs. The Men in Blue posted a fighting score of 268 runs after Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. However, India could not get off to a good start as Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Kemar Roach.
Subsequently, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli added 69 runs for the second wicket partnership. Rahul once again looked good but could not convert his start into a substantial score. The right-hander scored 48 runs but he was sent back by a beauty from Jason Holder. The West Indies captain was able to get the ball back into the right-hander and found the gap between Rahul’s bat and pad.

India was able to tick the right boxes.
Kohli looked comfortable as he was able to hit the ground running. The right-hander scored 72 runs with the help of eight fours. Kohli worked his singles into the gap and kept the scoreboard ticking.
Meanwhile, India’s middle order once again failed to live up to the expectation. Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadhav were both dismissed cheaply to raise question marks. MS Dhoni had a slow start as he struggled to find the gaps against the spinners.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli was dismissed when the ball did not rise as talisman expected. Hardik Pandya scored 46 runs whereas MS Dhoni was able to change the gears in the fag end of the innings as he scored 56 to take India to 268.
West Indies could not get going in their run chase as Mohammed Shami scalped two quick wickets. The Jason Holder-led side kept losing wickets at regular intervals and they were never in the contest in the second innings.
Here is how Twitter reacted to India’s win:
West Indies joining South Africa here as one of the World Cup letdowns (no need to tell me England may yet join the club).

I think India's bowling hasn't looked more compact and dominant than this ever before. Incredible!#INDvsWI

#MSDhoni completes his 1,000 runs vs West Indies. He is the sixth Indian after (Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly, Kohli and Rohit) to achieve this milestone.#INDvsWI #CWC19

MS Dhoni's having a bit of a shocker behind the stumps… I think that concerns me more than his batting, to be honest.#CWC19

I would go for Mohammed Shami over Bhuvneshwar Kumar when Bhuvneshwar gets fit going by his current form and sheer capability to win matches on his own.#INDvWI

A weak Number 4 further weakens the middle order. Always had reservations about Vijay Shankar #IndvsWI

82 of the last 10, well done from Hardik and Dhoni in the end. Kohli made batting look easy while he was out there, a decent score on this wicket. #INDvsWI

India's best batsman walks when not out, allrounder does not appeal for a catch when taken cleanly.
India winning Fair Play at least.

MS Dhoni should be given the no. 4 spot. Once he gets set till 40 overs he can tear apart the bowlers in final overs if we have wickets in hand. #INDvWI #INDvsWI

Batsmen are the big stars in Indian cricket, but the bowlers have been marvellous and have had a bigger contribution in the team’s success — across formats — in recent times
