Deepak Chahar has been in scintillating form playing for the Chennai Super Kings. MS Dhoni has made him bowl with the new ball, and the young pacer has stood up to the expectations. Chahar has provided early breakthroughs in almost all the games which in turn has helped Chennai to be in the top of the points table. So far, he has picked ten wickets from eight overs at an economy of 6.64. Bowling in the powerplays, the statistics are staggering and was certainly in the contention as the fourth seamer.

Will grab the next opportunity: Chahar

However, failing to make the cut, Deepak Chahar didn’t sound disappointed. He said there was a chance, but the selectors showed their confidence in Hardik Pandya as the fourth option. Chahar played a T20I for which they won and bowled well with the new ball. Speaking on the selection, the 24-year-old said that he didn’t have enough chances at the international level. Meanwhile, he sounded confident about grabbing the next chance.

Obviously you can’t judge a player based on just one performance. I think I didn’t get enough opportunities to prove myself on the international level but as a sportsman, I will ensure whenever I get an opportunity next, I grab it with both hands,” Chahar said to Timesnownews.com.

Deepak Chahar is upbeat and stated that this is not the end of cricket of him. He is keen to look forward to the remainder of the Indian Premier League. Chennai is currently at the top of the points table and is marching towards retaining their title in this edition.

It’s their choice to not have a 4th pacer in the squad and they will be the right ones to answer why. But I am not disappointed, it’s not the end of cricket for me. I have the remainder of IPL season to look forward to and keep performing at my best,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar will travel with the team, and the selectors have named him among the four net bowlers who will provide practice to the Indian batsmen. Khaleel Ahmed, Navdeep Saini, and Avesh Khan are the other three to tour England with the team. India will start their World Cup campaign on June 5 against South Africa at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in Southampton.
