ICC World Test Championship: Australia Solidify Position At Second Place

Following a convincing victory against the New Zealand Cricket Team, the Tim Paine-led side solidified the second position in the ICC World Test Championship Points table. They thrashed New Zealand in all three Tests to near the Indian National Cricket Team in the points table. Now, they are 64 points away from the top-placed Indian side.

After failing to defend the World Cup title in the first half of 2019, Australia displayed top-notch skills on the field in red-ball cricket. They defended Ashes Title and then sealed the home Series against Pakistan and New Zealand in a commanding manner. Now, they have 296 points to their name in the points table.

Australia jumped to 296 points:

After beating New Zealand in Boxing Day Test, Australia once again dominated the final Test of the series at Sydney. It was Marnus Labuschagne again, who scored a scintillating double century to help his side sweep the series. The right-handed batsman was adjudged as man of the match and man of the series as well.

The Indian National Cricket Team led by Virat Kohli sits firmly on top of the table with 360 points from seven Test matches. They secured victory in all the seven games they have played so far, which also include three clean-sweep victories. On the other hand, Australia managed to win seven out of 10 matches so far.

Pakistan, who opened the account in the home series against Sri Lanka is placed third in the points table. Pakistan is followed by the Dimuth Karunaratne-side, who secured a sensational victory back home and managed a draw in Pakistan.

New Zealand is placed 5th while the Joe Root-led side is at 6th position with 60 and 56 points respectively. South Africa, who managed to steal a victory in the first Test at Centurion against England bagged 30 points while West Indies and Bangladesh are yet to open their account in the table.
