Team India wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha, who is out with an injury, is still hopeful about recovering from injury ahead of the tour to Australia for a four-match Test series later this year.

Meanwhile, Saha has been struggling with injuries since the start of 2018. He returned from the tour of South Africa with a hamstring injury, picked up a thumb injury in the IPL and then, a severe shoulder injury came up. Furthermore, it forced Wriddhiman Saha to go for a labral repair surgery in Manchester.

A lot of drama unfolded before the team selection for the Test series against England. The committee delayed the team selection only to know Wriddhiman Saha’s injury has aggravated. The role of National Cricket Academy came under the scanner as their negligence put Saha’s career in doubt.

As a result, the wicket-keeper from Bengal missed the Test series against Afghanistan, England, and Windies. Currently, Wriddhiman Saha is undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He is practicing through a new technique, the range training which tests hands concerning shoulders.

With the recovery training going in full swing, Wriddhiman Saha is hopeful about making it for the Australia tour.

Speaking to Sportstar, Saha admitted that there is still a lot of time in hand. He also stated that the main concern is to bet fit as early as possible.

“There is still a lot of time. The West Indies series has just started. See, I haven’t been told a ‘no’ yet. This is how I would like to think about it.  The idea is to get fitter as soon as I can,” Saha said

However, with Rishabh Pant capitalising his opportunity to full effect, it remains to be seen what the selectors do if Saha gets fit ahead of the Australia tour.
