India’s right-handed batsman Kedar Jadhav credited MS Dhoni after the hosts won the opening match of the five-match ODI series. India won the match by six wickets after Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni added 141 runs for the fifth wicket partnership. In fact, India had their backs against the wall as they were tottering at 99-4. However, the dual bailed India out of the trouble to get them over the line.

Subsequently, Kedar Jadhav said one must follow whatever MS Dhoni says and they are bound to succeed. Dhoni is of great help when Kedar Jadhav comes out to bowl. The off-spinner was right on the money once again, he took the crucial wicket of Marcus Stoinis and conceded only 31 runs in his seven overs.

Dhoni guidance helped Kedar Jadhav.

Jadhav scored 81 off just 89 balls to help India take the lead in the series. The right-hander scored nine fours and one six in his match-winning knock.

Kedar Jadhav said while talking to Yuzvendra Chahal on Chahal TV, “I follow whatever MS Dhoni tells me to do and I become successful. You should ask him how he figures out all these tricks that provide others with an opportunity to get success and become more confident.”

“I told him that I am not afraid of anything or any target when you are standing in front of me. So if he is in front, everything automatically works out.”

Jadhav revealed that he was focussed on timing the ball. He wasn’t looking to smash the ball and played according to the match situations.

“During critical situations, I wanted to hit a boundary. It is very easy to falter your techniques in those times. But I was thinking that I will react on a delivery that allows me to hit a boundary, but I did not want to use too much power. I was dependent on my skills of shaping and timing, so I just did that,” Jadhav explained his mindset before hitting the maximum.

Special to play with MS Dhoni.

Meanwhile, Kedar Jadhav revealed he doesn’t want to get a promotion in the batting order as India already has class batsmen in the top order. Jadhav said it is always a pleasure to bat along with MS Dhoni, who keeps guiding him.

“We have world-class openers. I do not wish to be promoted up the order. I am happy to bat in the middle order along. I am doing well and hence the team management has fixed that spot for me. It is always special to play along with Mahi bhai. I have been watching him since childhood. And now getting a chance to win the match alongside him, it is a dream. I think I am really lucky.”

India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The second ODI will take place at Nagpur on 5th March.
