The ODI series is not a part of the ICC ODI Super League. However, it is still important considering their T20 World Cup preparations. “I thought it was a fantastic chase although we fell short. We are proud of the fight. Surya was magnificent to watch. I have been watching him for a while now. Loves this format, has a wide range of shots. He has grown from strength to strength since we got him into the squad. They put us under pressure with their batting.”

Decent partnership put us on the back foot. You back yourself to get this score. We were clear in trying out guys if they can bowl 4 overs. We have things to work on as a group. We want to get better every game. Today was a great learning for us to come out and bowl. And to bat as well. Games like this will teach you” said Rohit at the post-match presentation.

He also spoke on Virat Kohli’s woeful run of form. Rohit added that Kohli “pretty much did everything right” in the match, but was unable to get to a big score.

“Honestly, we were three down and we wanted to dig in, get that partnership going and bat as long as possible. He pretty much did everything right today. Just slightly disappointed that it couldn’t be right till the end, but nothing taking away from that kind of knock.

“You don’t get to see that every now and then. So, we will take that with both hands as a team and I’m pretty sure about him as well. He’ll be very happy with how we responded to that situation where he went to bat in,” he added.
