Indian National Cricket team vice-captain Rohit Sharma achieved yet another milestone in the ongoing third ODI against New Zealand at the Bay Oval. Meanwhile, the visitors lead the five-match series 2-0.

Chasing a modest total of 244 runs, Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan got off to a steady start keeping the New Zealand bowlers at bay. Boundaries have come at will for Shikhar Dhawan, who has accumulated five fours in the first five overs, with Bracewell proving to be expensive. On the other hand, Rohit has one four to his name as India move to 31 for 0. However, Dhawan departed after a quickfire 28 edging Trent Boult to the safe hands of Ross Taylor.

Sharma reaches a milestone

Since then skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have looked rock solid guiding India to the target. Meanwhile, during the course of the run chase, Rohit Sharma became the 10th Indian to complete 10000 runs in List A cricket. Moreover, he (260) is the fourth fastest to achieve the feat after Virat Kohli (219), Sourav Ganguly (252), and Sachin Tendulkar (257) in terms of innings.

Kohli and Rohit stitched a 113-run partnership before Rohit (62) departed. Kohli soon too departed after a well-made 50 as hosts New Zealand have sensed more blood for the first time in the game. Dinesh Karthik and Ambati Rayudu are still in the crease with Kedar Jadhav and it looks like an easy chase for the visitors.

Bowlers once again did a superb job

Previously, the Indian bowlers bounced back beautifully to restrict the New Zealand team for a mere 243 runs. However, the pacers started well with the new ball having the Kiwis two down within the powerplay overs. Kane Williamson departed soon after but a 100-plus stand from Ross Taylor and Tom Latham put the Kiwis back in front. But the Indian bowlers bounced back in style bowling out New Zealand for 243 with Mohammed Shami picking three wickets.
