Ten years after MS Dhoni had led India to an ODI series win in New Zealand for the first time; it was Virat Kohli’s men who achieved the feat again. This time they have taken a 3-0 lead in the five-match series. Meanwhile, after India had won the third match by seven wickets at the Bay Oval, Scott Styris trolled the Kiwis for their performance. During a post-match interview with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sunil Gavaskar, the ex-New Zealand all-rounder took a light-hearted dig at Kane Williamson’s team.
Dominant India puts NZ on the mat
It was an impressive outing for the Indians on the field on Monday. They bowled first after losing the toss and didn’t take long before packing the openers. Both Guptill and Munro failed to hang around, as Bhuvi and Mohammed Shami had the better of them. Though Tom Latham and Ross Taylor planned to stick at the crease for a while, their efforts were cut short too. In the end, the Kiwis could manage 243 runs on the board.

The India National Cricket Team began well, adding 39 for the first wicket. However, much like previous matches, Rohit and Kohli stuck around and hit respective fifties. Then, it was only a matter of time before Ambati Rayudu, and Dinesh Karthik completed the formalities.
Witty Styris takes a dig at the Kiwis

While talking to Bhuvneshwar, Sunil Gavaskar asked him,
“So tell me is it a greater challenge to bowl to Indian batsmen in the nets than to ball to the New Zealand batsmen in the match,”
To which, Kumar replied, ‘Depends’. Scott Styris interjected saying, ‘You and I Sunny, are falling out here’. Gavaskar then uttered, ‘just asking’.
Styris then replied,
“Probably is. We are speculating in the New Zealand commentary box whether the Indian men’s team should take on the Indian women’s teams tomorrow instead. Might be much fairer contest,”
Meanwhile, India and New Zealand will face off in the fourth ODI in Hamilton on Thursday (January 31st).
