Former India National Cricket team skipper MS Dhoni has been a vital cog in the current limited-overs setup. Although he has stepped down from captaincy, his presence on the field is a massive advantage for the current skipper Virat Kohli. Moreover, having Dhoni behind the stumps is a huge plus point for the bowlers, and it was once again evident during the first ODI against New Zealand at Napier.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav returned with four while Yuzvendra Chahal picked two as the visitors rattled the hosts for a paltry score of 157 runs. However, Mohammed Shami provided the initial breakthrough rattling the stumps of both the openers after New Zealand opted to bat first. In the process, he became the fastest India to scalp 100 ODI wickets as India took an early grip on the game.

However, MS Dhoni planned the plot of the of the last wicket of Trent Boult. He directed Kuldeep Yadav what needs to be done from behind the stumps. He urged Kuldeep to bowl outside and predicted that Boult will try to defend the same. Boult did exactly the same thing as it found the edge of the batsman to the first slip in the hands of Rohit Sharma.
