Team India produced another dominating effort to inflict a whitewash over South Africa beating them 3-0 in the Test series. It was the same script in Ranchi as that of the last two matches where the host ruled the Proteas out of the game by putting runs in the first innings.

Virat Kohli & Co were outstanding throughout the Test series and they will go home with a lot of positives from here. From Rohit Sharma’s devastating form to the fast bowlers bowling their heart out on Indian wickets, this has been one hell of a series for India. Moreover, they also extended their lead in the ICC World Test Championship playing five matches in total.

They dealt with early blows losing three quick wickets but Rahane and Rohit shouldered responsibilities to put the host in a strong position before the bowlers stepped up.

They bowled out South Africa for 162 and 133 runs to take the match home by an innings and 202 runs in Ranchi.

Here is the squad rating of Team India from the three-match Test series between India and South Africa:

Mayank Agarwal has sealed his opener’s role with consecutive centuries in first two Test in Visakhapatnam and Pune. He has looked confident against the new ball bowlers and India have found a reliable opening pair in Agarwal and Rohit Sharma.

The Karnataka opener although had a poor outing in the last match but the host will pursue him with the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

Rohit Sharma’s form at the top of the batting order has been India’s biggest positives from this series. He started the tour with double centuries in Visakhapatnam to shut all his critics. Rohit then backed it with a double hundred in Ranchi.

Virat Kohli & Co will hope Rohit to keep up the blistering form in the matches to follow against Bangladesh.

CHETESHWAR PUJARA (6.5/10)

With two openers in outstanding form, Cheteshwar Pujara had very little to do in this Test series. After a rare failure in the first innings of the first match, the Saurashtra batsman played a valuable knock in the second essay and backed it another fifty in the second game.

Pujara, who failed to register one century in this series will hope to come back stronger in the Test series against Bangladesh.

VIRAT KOHLI (7.5/10)

India skipper has led the team from the front. His bowling changes and intent has been on-spot as India found themselves in a winning position in every situation. Besides, he had a terrific game with the bat in Pune scoring an unbeaten 254 to lead the batting.

The talismanic run-scorer will be happy with how his boys come out all guns blazing in the series and will hope to keep up the same intensity in the matches to follow.

AJINKYA RAHANE (7/10)

Team India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has shouldered responsibility whenever his team needed the most. After good outings in West Indies, Rahane was in his elements against South Africa. He played a very valuable knock in the third Test alongside Rohit Sharma to bail his side out when chips were down.

Rahane’s century in the final game was also his first at home in almost three years. He will hope to lead the middle-order in the matches to follow as India hope to strengthen their lead at the top in the ICC World Test Championship.

HANUMA VIHARI (1/10)

Hanuma Vihari had very little to contribute in this series as he batted only in the first innings of the first Test. However, India had to sacrifice him to accommodate another pacer in the second Test while a spinner in the third.

The middle-order has been in outstanding form since his debut and will hope to make a mark if an opportunity comes his way against Bangladesh.

WRIDDHIMAN SAHA (6/10)

Wriddhiman Saha has been in the headlines throughout the series. He has been brilliant behind the wickets in these challenging conditions which have earned him praise from all across the globe.

Besides, he has also got starts with the bat and will have to convert them into big scores in the matches to follow.

RAVINDRA JADEJA (7/10)

Everyone is aware of Ravindra Jadeja’s exploits as a bowler. But the Saurashtra all-rounder laid testimony of his batting with consistent outings in this series. Jadeja has matured as a batsman and India will now have the luxury to field an extra bowler when needed.

Jadeja, who had an excellent outing in the series will be keen to keep up his excellent work in the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

RAVICHANDRAN ASHWIN (6.5/10)

Ravichandran Ashwin has time and again proved why he is currently the best spinner in the business. His ability to bowl at different conditions and provide breakthroughs make him one of the important stakeholders in the Test side.

The veteran off-spinner marked his return to Team India with a seven-wicket haul in the first match and has only grown stronger. He has bowled good line and lengths which will keep the Bangladesh cricketers on their feet when they visit India for the two-match series.

ISHANT SHARMA (5/10)

The story of the fast bowlers has been the most heartening in this series. There has been a lot of talks about this pace line-up and they once again proved that they are the best lot India have ever produced. Ishant Sharma did wonders in the first two Tests with the new ball and then came back to build more pressure with the old ball.

The tall and lanky pacer to missed the last Test due to a slight niggle will hope to come back all guns blazing in the next series.

MOHAMMED SHAMI (8/10)

Mohammed Shami has been lethal in the recently-concluded series against South Africa. He is one of the greatest exponents of reverse swing in today’s world and he has time and again proved why he is so highly rated.

The Bengal cricketer has been consistent with his performance and will hope to keep up the good job.

UMESH YADAV (6/10)

Umesh Yadav had to sit out in the first game in Visakhapatnam as India went with two pacer strategy. He was in his absolute best when he returned to action in the second Test and grew better in the last match.

He had an all-round outing in Ranchi which will give him confidence in the matches to follow later this year.

SHAHBAZ NADEEM (4.5/10)
