India vs South Africa 2019: South Africa’s Squad Ratings;??It wasn’t a great series for South Africa, especially, in the Test format of the game. After equalling the series in the shortest format of the game, it was expected that South Africa will enter into the series with a renewed energy. But, unfortunately, they failed to take on India’s brilliance. They were outsmarted in all sections of the game in the 3-match Test series.

1. Dean Elgar – 6/10

By far, the only batsman of South Africa, who looked like tackling the Indian team bowlers. He started the series on a stunning note with 160 to his name. But, later, he was dismissed in an unfortunate way for a couple of times and then received a blow on his head in the final innings of the series.?? He is the highest run-scorer for South Africa with 232 runs.
2. Aiden Markram – 0/10

It was expected that Aiden Markram will have a solid series, especially, after his heroics in the domestic series against India-A. The flamboyant batsman failed to get the bat on ball in the series. He was upset with himself, as he hit a solid object in the dressing room in frustration which led to his absence for the final Test.
3. Theunis de Bruyn – 2/10

The right-handed batsman entered into the series with a tag of playing spinners well. But, unfortunately, he failed to replicate the same in the series. He got an extra-chance when Dean Elgar was out with a concussion. Though he started well, he couldn’t capitalise the start.
4. Temba Bavuma – 3/10

He was one of the few candidates, who was expected to take the burden on his shoulders. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the same during the series. The flamboyant batsman failed to make things fall in place. It also kept his place in danger.

5. Faf du Plessis – 4/10

The South Africa skipper was expected to prove his mettle against the Indian team. He already toured India earlier, still, failed to make use of his experience to counter the spin conditions. Besides that, he also failed to lead the team to success.
6. Quinton de Kock – 4/10

This left-handed batsman expected to be pretty much crucial for the proteas down the order as he is capable of making the things turn quickly in mean overs. Apart from his knock in Visakhapatnam, De Kock failed to deliver for the team. He was poor behind the stumps as well.
7. Zubayr Hamza – 7/10

In a couple of chances, he has got, the youngster scored a fine fifty to show his worth. However, he couldn’t replicate the same when follow-on was enforced. Despite that, the youngster showed that he is capable of dealing with quality attack.
8. Vernon Philander – 1/10

The man for South Africa in South Africa couldn’t be the same in Indian conditions. India worked him out to get those runs on a bulk average. Apart from Pune Test, he failed to get runs elsewhere.
9. Dane Piedt – 2/10

He couldn’t do the job for the team for which he was assigned. The right-handed off-spinner failed to give breakthroughs for the team despite bowling decent line and lengths. Surprisingly, he came good with the bat.
10. Keshav Maharaj – 5/10

He was the only player, who looked like giving some competition in the middle. He bowled superb line and lengths to get the better of India. Besides his bowling, he was brilliant with the bat when he played a stunning knock at Pune.
11. George Linde – 8/10

In the one match he has played, the youngster has shown what he is capable of doing. He bagged a 4-wicket haul and also batted brilliantly down the order to show his worth for the team.
12. Henrich Klaasen – 1/10

The one mark is for his wicket-keeping. As far as his batting is concerned, he has applied himself pretty poorly. He went down without any fight in the middle for South Africa.
13. Senuran Muthuswamy – 6/10

He has been brilliant in both the game which he played for South Africa. The young all-rounder has given his fight in the middle with the bat and ball. Surprisingly, he was dropped in the final game.
14. Kagiso Rabada – 5/10

He hasn’t made much of an impact for South Africa. But, the youngster has proved his brilliant at times during the match. With the new ball, he delivered things for South Africa but unfortunately, there was no support from the others.
15. Anrich Nortje – 4/10

On debut, he impressed with his pace but the lack of swing with the old ball didn’t help his side to make things fall in place. The lanky fast bowler would be happy with the stat that he took Virat Kohli as his maiden wicket.
16. Lungi Ngidi – 1/10

He got his chance in the final Test match but couldn’t deliver the goods for the team. The flamboyant batsman did well with the new ball on Day 1 of the third Test.
