India vs West Indies 2019: 1st ODI, Chennai – India’s Predicted XI; After entertaining fans with the brilliant display in the shorter format of the game, the Indian National Cricket Team will look to take their form into the 50-over format as well. All the players in the side have enough experience under their belt to outsmart Kieron Pollard-led side in Chennai.
The match is scheduled to play in Chennai on Sunday at 14:00 IST. The pitch is expected to help the spinners, as Chidambaram Stadium offers good turn and bounce. Meanwhile, we figured out predicted Playing XI of the Indian team for the first ODI.
India’s Predicted Playing XI:
1. Rohit Sharma:
The vice-captain of India always came good for India whenever he played in Chennai. He is in glorious touch with the bat and would like to carry-on his form in the ODI format of the game as well. His performance will be key for India.

2. KL Rahul:
In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul would like to make the most of the opportunity. The flamboyant batsman has been brilliant for the team in T20I format and would want to covert the same in ODI format. With Mayank Agarwal in the lineup, KL Rahul must perform straight away.
3. Virat Kohli:
The Indian skipper always delivered goods against the West Indies team in the ODI format of the game. After being adjudged the Man of the Series in the T20 form, skipper Virat Kohli will be raring to go in the ODI format as well. Besides that, his captaincy will be tested against tough opposition.
4. Shreyas Iyer:
Most probably, Shreyas Iyer is expected to slot in at No. 4. He couldn’t make much an impact in the T20 series since he didn’t get enough time in the middle. However, Iyer was brilliant when India toured the Windies in August and will look to score some runs in this match.
5. Rishabh Pant:
Rishabh Pant is expected to bat at No. 5 although a shuffle in the batting order won’t come as a surprise. Pant didn’t make use of his chances in the T20 series and will have to prove himself in the ODI format. This will be a good chance for him to make things fall in place.
6. Shivam Dube:
Most likely, Shivam Dube will get his maiden ODI cap on Sunday. In the limited chances, so far, Shivam Dube proved his mettle and would like to make the most of the opportunity in the absence of Hardik Pandya. His finishing skills will be tested in this series.
7. Ravindra Jadeja:
Ravindra Jadeja has filled the role of all-rounder Hardik Pandya perfectly, as he manages to take wickets, slog a few boundaries, and is an excellent fielder. Jadeja, who was left out of the side in the 3rd T20I, is sure to make an impact at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, his IPL home ground.
8. Mohammed Shami:
Mohammed Shami has been in excellent form over the past couple of years. In Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s absence, he will be the key bowler for India. The flamboyant cricketer will be very important in the death overs.
9. Deepak Chahar:
In the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar will likely get the nod to be part of Playing XI. After a dull show with the ball in the T20Is, Deepak Chahar will look to make a mark in the ODIs.
10. Kuldeep Yadav:
With spin conditions on offer, Kuldeep Yadav will get the nod to feature in the first ODI of the game. Besides that, he can contain the opposition batsman with his mastery. Kuldeep Yadav might get hit for a few sixes, but he can be an excellent wicket-taking option on turning Chennai pitch.
11. Yuzvendra Chahal:
Yuzvendra Chahal will be hoping that he gets to pair up in the middle overs with Kuldeep Yadav, as the duo can do maximum damage when bowling in tandem. He will bowl to finest hitters of the West Indies’ Cricket Team.
