India vs Windies 2018: 4th ODI - Twitter Erupts as India Knocks Out Windies to Go 2-1 Up
Updated - 29 Oct 2018, 09:32 PM
Team India presented a clinical effort following a humiliating loss at Pune to beat Windies by 224 runs to go 2-1 up in the five-match ODI series at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, India won the toss on a fresh pitch at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and opted to bat. They had reinforced their batting line-up with the inclusions of Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja after Pune’s disappointment. And then came that charge: a demoralising heave to deposit Kemar Roach’s length ball on the midwicket roof to stamp Rohit Sharma‘s authority.
The innings revolved around a partnership of 211 between Rohit and Ambati Rayudu, both finishing with hundreds to entertain the crowd. While Rohit added 162 runs, Rayudu continued his superb form to notch a hundred.
There were many more hits to the boundary as the game progressed, as India smashed 202 off the final 20 overs to soar to a total of 377. In reply, Windies, who showed enough grit in the last two fixtures, crumbled under pressure of a huge target.
They lost wickets at regular interval as the heavyweight India bowling attack proved too tough to resist.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar started the damage dismissing Chandrapaul Hemraj while two back to back runouts ensured Windies’ derailment. Virat Kohli was spectacular on the field as dismissed Keiron Powell with a brilliant effort.
Since then, it was all young Khaleel Ahmed, who weaved his magic to rattle the wobbly middle-order. He trapped Shimron Hetmyer right in front before removing Rovman Powell in the very next over. Khaleel continued his brilliant spell to add one more to his kitty dismissing the experienced Marlon Samuels to put the last coffin to Windies’ innings.
With six down at 56, Jason Holder tried to steady the innings but lost wickets from the other hand. Kuldeep Yadav came to the party removing Fabien Allen and dangerous looking Ashley Nurse. He frustrated the Indian bowlers with a half-century while Kemar Roach hung on there before Kuldeep Yadav finished the proceedings.
India will look to continue the winning the momentum to finish off the proceedings when they clash in the last outing of the series at Thiruvananthapuram.
Here is the how the Twitter reacted as India go 2-1 up in the series:
The ease with which you score your hundreds is a delight to watch, @imro45. #INDvWI pic.twitter.com/H9KwuOnkzS

Khaleel Ahmed has potential to become a bowler like Trent Boult. Left hand medium pace bowling with probing line and lengths will always bring bulk of wickets particularly with new ball. #INDvWI

Another outstanding hundred from Hitman Rohit Sharma that too inside 33 overs. Are we witnessing another double hundred today? #INDvWI pic.twitter.com/j8FGnqRuIi

Khaleel Ahmed has taken 3 out of the 6 wickets which include 2 run outs, fantastic display of left-arm fast bowling from India after Zaheer and Nehraji hung up their boots. This boy needs to be pampered especially to add variety for 2019 world cup#INDvsWI
