What a day it has been for Ravindra Jadeja in his career? All his wait for the maiden hundred in international cricket is over at Rajkot, the place where he started his career as a child. It has been a splendid show from the southpaw, who nonchalantly thrashed the Windies bowlers to all corners of the park.

Ravindra Jadeja came to bat when the team is in a stable position. Initially, he started the things by rotating the strike with Virat Kohli. However, as soon as he got to his fifty, Jadeja wielded his willow to bring his maiden century.

Whenever you get your first Test hundred, it gives you a lot of joy – Ravindra Jadeja

Speaking of the sensational knock, Ravindra Jadeja quoted saying he is waiting for the century for nine long years in his career. Further, Jadeja added he is happy to get back his form when it matters the most.

Meanwhile, he also recollected the knock that he played against England in the final Test of the series. Jadeja added he got himself a feeling of an accomplished batsman after the inning in Kennington Oval.

”Obviously, after 9 years of international cricket, I am scoring a hundred, so it is a special moment. Whenever I reached 70-80 in the past I thought about my hundred but threw my wicket away. I have made big hundreds in the domestic circuit, so I thought I can get hundreds on the international level too. Today I told myself that I need to reach the mark,” Ravindra Jadeja said.

”I was really happy; whenever you get your first Test hundred it gives you a lot of joy. In England, Anderson and Broad were swinging the ball, the clouds were there too, and you don’t have anything in your favour, so I just thought about scoring my fifty, first. I spoke to myself and spurred myself on to keep going on and on, and I feel accomplished about my batting in England. It was actually the first time I was playing in the series,” he added.

I can’t think what would have happened If I missed run-out – Ravindra Jadeja

Meanwhile, speaking of the comical run-out that took place in the final session of the game, Jadeja added he wasn’t expecting the batsman to run to save his wicket. However, he laughed at himself for the scenario.

”Both batsmen were at the same end, so I thought I could easily hit the stumps. I was just walking at the stumps, and I didn’t think he (Hetmyer) will start running. I can’t think what would have happened if I hadn’t hit the stumps, but then I threw it and luckily it hit the stumps,” he inferred.

However, it has been a great day at the office for Ravindra Jadeja in all departments of the game. First, he scored century then a run-out during fielding and finished the day with Sunil Ambris wicket of his bowling.

I just love what I script. Over the years, Cricket has been my passion and crisping articles on it gives me an immense pleasure...Cheers...!!!
