Windies fast bowler, Kemar Roach will return to Barbados after the death of his grandmother and will rejoin the Windies squad in India following her funeral for the two-match Test series.

Roach to miss practice game

However, it rules Kemar Roach out of the only two-day warm-up game against the Board President’s XI in Vadodara, scheduled to start on 29th September. Meanwhile, the Test series will begin in Rajkot on 4th October.

As a result, the fast bowler could go into the opening Test against India without too much of a practice in the longer format of the game. However, his last red ball assignment was back against Bangladesh in Antigua during the first week of July. Roach ended up bagging five wickets in the 1st innings of the Test match.  However, he also picked up a hamstring injury and was rested for the 2nd Test played in Jamaica.

Kemar Roach is the most experienced fast bowler for Windies

Following the series against Bangladesh, the only top-level cricket for Kemar Roach has been a couple of T20 games for Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League in August.

Speaking of the visiting team’s squad, Roach is the most experienced fast bowler in the squad having played 48 Tests since making his debut back in 2009. Shanon Gabriel with 37 Tests and Jason Holder with 34 Tests are the two other senior quicks in the team. Meanwhile, Keemo Paul has played just a solitary Test match so far. Sherman Lewis who was brought in as a replacement for Alzarri Joseph is yet to make his Test debut.

Meanwhile, Windies is slated to play five ODI’s and three T20I’s following the conclusion of the Test series.
