The Committee of Administrators (CoA) is expected to hold Team India’s appraisal meetings before the start of the 2nd Test against Windies which is slated to be played in Hyderabad. The reports were made public by the Sunday Express. The meetings have been scheduled with the team management and the chief selector on 10th and 11th October. The 2nd Test between India and Windies is slated to start from 12th October in Hyderabad.

“The CoA will have a discussion with the team management. It’s stock-taking of the team’s tours of South Africa, England and Dubai [for the Asia Cup]. This is a performance analysis meeting of the overseas tours. Captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, head coach Ravi Shastri will be there. Chief selector MSK Prasad, too, will be present,” a source close to Sunday Express told the newspaper.

The performance of Team India hasn’t been great as they have lost the Test series in South Africa and England. While they were beaten 2-1 in the Rainbow Country before receiving a 4-1 hiding at the hands of England. However, Team India head coach Ravi Shastri still feels that the current crop of players are much better travellers than what the team did in the last 15-20 years. This statement had not gone down too well with former Indian cricketers.

“I can’t see any other Indian team in the last 15-20 years that have had the same run in such a short time, and you have had some great players playing in those series. So the promise is there, and it’s just about getting tougher mentally. You have got to hurt when you lose matches because that’s when you look within and come out with the right kind of answers to combat such situations and get past the finishing line. One day you will if you believe,” the head coach had said during the England series.

Committee of Administrators has taken the batting performances of overseas tours in consideration

Despite this statement, the Committee of Administrators CoA took note of the poor batting performance and communicated to the head coach after the 2nd Test in England. They wrote that such abysmal performances were just unacceptable especially given the fact that they had adequate preparation time for both the series.

Over the 16 Test innings in the tour of South Africa and England combined, India have scored 300 plus total only twice. They failed to chase 194 at Birmingham. In Southampton, they were bowled out for 184 in the 2nd innings when they needed 245 for victory.
