India vs Windies 2018: Virat Kohli Becomes the Fastest To Reach 10000 ODI Runs By Time

Team India skipper Virat Kohli is in a record-breaking spree as he broke an array of record during his 37th ODI hundred in the second ODI against Windies at Visakhapatnam.

Meanwhile, Kohli went past the milestone when he reached 81 in his innings and thus became the fastest to 10,000 ODI runs in terms of innings. Kohli has taken 205 innings to reach the feat as compared to Tendulkar’s 259. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly finds himself in the third spot, he took 263 innings to bring up the milestone.

Kohli became only the 4th Indian and 13th batsman overall to achieve this feat. The Indian captain also holds the record for the fastest to 8000 and 9000 ODI runs.

In addition to, Virat Kohli also became the fastest batsman to notch 10000 runs by time. Kohli (10 years and 66 days) overtook Rahul Dravid (10 years 317 days) and Sachin Tendulkar (11 years and 103 days).

Furthermore, Kohli also took 205 innings to reach the milestone only close to Sachin Tendulkar’s 259 innings. Moreover, Sourav Ganguly(263), Ricky Ponting (266), and Jacques Kallis (272) occupy the third, fourth, and the fifth spot.

Meanwhile, India posted 321 runs on the board in the second fixture against Windies at Visakhapatnam banking on Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 157-run knock. Batting first, India didn’t have a good start as they lost last-match centurion Rohit Sharma for four runs. Kohli stitched a 139-run partnership with Ambati Rayudu (73) to guide India to a massive total.

Windies now have an uphill task at hand to overtake India’s target to level the five-match ODI series at 1-1.
