Hitting twin centuries against the Windies in two ODIs has kept Virat Kohli on the forefront of headlines. Meanwhile, the veteran India batsman, Sunil Gavaskar called Virat’s run-of-form beyond phenomenal and hailed him for his success in the 50-over format.
Bowling department needs to get better – Gavaskar
Meanwhile, India couldn’t win the second ODI in Vizag in spite of having a high performance from the batting department. Gavaskar, however, feels Virat Kohli should look into the bowling department if he wishes to seek results.
Also, Gavaskar said with the advent of T20 cricket; the ODI game has charged up and no more the 300-plus score is a big target in this format.
“In the end, a tie was the best result as neither team’s bowlers had done anything special to get their team to a win. The captains will be more than a bit concerned about their attacks. That said, the one-day game has got charged up even more with the advent of T20 cricket. No longer are 300-plus scores a rarity they are regularly becoming the norm.” Sunil Gavaskar wrote it in Times of India.

“India being the home team has the huge advantage of picking from all over the country, unlike a touring team that is restricted to its squad of 16. So Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Bumrah make a comeback for the final three games. It will be interesting to see how they bowl especially at the start to the Windies batsmen. It’s not going to be easy since they will have to find their rhythm after being out of action for three weeks or so.” Gavaskar added.

“India will have a change of attack to try and prevent the Windies from getting another 300 plus score. They will be also looking to field better than they have so far. The team management will also do well to look at the unnecessary throwing at the stumps even when there is no chance of a runout. As the Vizag tie showed, it could make the difference between winning or losing the game.” Sunil Gavaskar concluded.
Meanwhile, India is ready for the battle as they will play the third ODI against Windies on Saturday.
