Former South African batsman AB de Villiers has cleared the air over his International comeback. It was reported recently by the senior editor of Aaj Tak, Vikrant Gupta that AB de Villiers will take a final call on his comeback in January. Thus, there were hopes of AB de Villiers coming back into the South African squad for the coveted World Cup.

However, AB de Villiers has rubbished all the rumors and said he is not going to come out of retirement. In fact, the former linchpin is going to keep playing in the T20 leagues across the globe. de Villiers is also excited to play in the upcoming Mzansi Super League. This would be the first time when AB de Villiers will get back to action after hanging his boots in May.

AB de Villiers rubbishes the rumors.

AB has sent shocking waves across the cricketing world when he claimed that he is tired to keep going at the International level. However, de Villiers clarified that his statements were taken in a wrong way.

“No, there is no comeback. I made the mistake of saying ‘never say never’, which is a philosophy that I have always followed in my life. I was actually trying to say that I am focusing on the now, but it came out horribly wrong and the next minute there were headlines around the world,” he said at the official launch of the Tshwane Spartans franchise at the SuperSport Park on Friday (October 26).

Therefore, AB de Villiers doesn’t want any confusions, especially for his team. The former talisman said it would be selfish on his part to consider making a comeback.

“I certainly do not want to confuse anyone around the world, especially the Proteas team. It will be very selfish and arrogant of me to throw statements around that I want to play at the World Cup. I am happy where I am and focusing on the now and I will never say ‘never say never’ again. My focus at the moment is to play good cricket in the Mzansi Super League for the Tshwane Spartans. I have been working hard to be fit.”

AB de Villiers has finally put an end to all the rumors which were going around. In fact, the right-hander had also taken a sabbatical from the Test team. However, he had come back to play against the Test series against India and Australia.
