In the past, the Indian Cricket Team have been called poor travellers partly because the Indian batsmen struggle to stamp their authority on foreign shores. Despite the illustrious cricket history of our nation, there are still some lands left to be conquered.
Although, having said that, there have been a few Indian batsmen who have scored centuries against SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia). It’s fair to say that some of the Indian batsmen love to play on tracks where the ball swings and bounces. On pitches like these, their game flourishes.
So today, we’ll be taking a look at those three Indian batsmen who have scored ODI centuries against SENA nations, proving the old adage wrong that Indians are weaker in away matches:
Sachin Tendulkar:
Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has hit centuries against all of the SENA countries. Playing on South African soil, he has scored four ODI centuries in a total of 40 matches. Against England, the legendary opening batsman scored three ODI centuries.
Similarly, Sachin has one ODI century each against New Zealand and Australia, while playing at their home turf.
Widely regarded as one of the best batsmen to have ever taken to the field, Sachin holds the record for scoring most runs in ODI cricket.
The 46-year-old also holds a special distinction of scoring 49 centuries in ODI matches, a record that is likely to be surpassed by Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli
The current captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli loves to score runs, no matter where he plays.
In his illustrious career, the 31-year-old has hit multiple ODI centuries against all of the SENA countries. This is the reason why he is ranked number one in ICC ODI and Test rankings.
Kohli loves to take the game to the opposition, which is pretty evident from his mind-boggling stats. The right-handed run machine has 43 ODI centuries in his career, alongside 54 half-centuries.
He has five scored centuries in Australia in ODIs, three centuries in South African continent, and one century each on the soil of England and New Zealand.
Under Kohli’s leadership, India recently won a T20 series in New Zealand for the first time in history.

Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan belongs to that rare breed of cricketers who perform much better on away soil as compared to home games. In all of ICC tournaments outside of India, Shikhar has scored runs consistently.
He is also one of the three cricketers alongside Kohli and Sachin to score ODI centuries against the SENA countries.
The 34-year-old loves to bat in England, which shows from his stats, four centuries on English soil.
Shikhar hit a ton in Johannesburg South Africa in 2018. However, India lost that game, unfortunately.
Besides, the left-handed batsman has two centuries in Australia and one in New Zealand.
While Shikhar would love to add to his tally of scoring in New Zealand, he is currently injured and will miss the ODI series.
