A few days ago, Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell took an indefinite break from international cricket and that too in the middle of Sri Lanka series citing mental health issues. He has also made himself unavailable for the upcoming series against Pakistan. CA’s Support Team psychologist Dr Michael Lloyd said that Glenn Maxwell has been facing some serious issues with regards to his mental health.

Due to this, he will be away from the sport for a short time. Citing the example of Australia all-rounder, former India’s flamboyant cricketer Yuvraj Singh stated that Indian cricketers can’t take a break from cricket owing to mental health issues. According to the 2011 World Cup hero, players have always kept mum in requesting for break despite having cricket tours in a gruelling schedule.

“We’ve never heard the players’ voice till now so we needed it [the players association],” said Yuvraj Singh who welcomed the newly-formed Indian Cricketers’ Association which will now look to solve the problems faced by the Indian players.

Yuvraj Singh explains why Indian cricketers can’t take an indefinite break:

There is a specific reason as to why the Indians can’t take a break from the game citing mental issues according to Yuvraj Singh. “He [Maxwell] took a break because he felt he needed it, but Indian cricketers can’t do that because they fear they’ll lose place their place in the team. So, the players association is very important to the Indian cricket team,” Yuvraj said.

Yuvraj Singh’s presence will be a sheer essence to the team and the entertainment is guaranteed. When asked about his strategy for this particular format of the game, Yuvraj echoed: “Swing hard because there is no time at all.”

The enthralling event which promises to be a brilliant feast for the eyes will be telecasted on TV channels- Sony Six and Sony Ten 3.
