Cricket is a sport which requires a lot of fitness and in order to do so, cricketers have to go through a rigorous training regime. Take the example of Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper has been completely transformed after he started to take care of his fitness and diet. Similarly, Indian cricketers are well renowned around the world for having very high fitness levels.
Having said that though, Indian cricketers are also human like the rest of us, and once in a while, they are allowed to break the diet program and gorge on their favourite food dishes.
Some of the Indian players love food so much that they have opened up their own restaurants. What are the eating habits of Indian cricketers? What do they like to eat while having a cheat meal?
Here is a list of Indian cricketers and their favourite food:
Virat Kohli:
The Indian cricket team captain is well known for his love for fitness. He is very strict for his diet and does rigorous training for being fit.
Renowned as a world-class athlete Virat pleases for Japanese food, especially Sushi as it is his favourite dish. However, being a Punjabi he also loves Aloo Da Paratha, Chole Bhature and dishes made from chicken.
As a young cricketer growing in Delhi, Virat used to go eat street food, especially noodles and stuff like that, after practice sessions and matches, but now the 31-year-old has become very conscious about his diet, and it reflects on his performances as well.
MS Dhoni:
The former Indian skipper is yet another foodie in the team. Dhoni likes every possible thing that is related to chicken whether it be kebabs to chicken butter masala to chicken tikka pizza all comes under his favorite food category. MS Dhoni has even mentioned Chicken Butter Masala in his Twitter bio.
The 38-year old player also has a special liking for sweet desert-like Gajar ka halwa and Kheer. Also, he makes sure to drink milk daily as it’s his favorite drink and it’s healthy too.
Having said that though, as per his age, Dhoni has become very particular about what he eats on a daily basis. He is trying to prolong his career, and that’s why diet is has a very crucial role in it, if the wicket-keeper batsman wants to remain injury-free.
Rohit Sharma:
Being a Mumbaikar, Rohit is a big foodie and has a soft corner for vada pav and pav bhaji. However, when given a choice he always opts for aloo paratha. The swashbuckling opener also loves Chinese cuisine and is fond of eggs as well.

As far as his food preferences are concerned, the 30-year-old craves homemade food, particularly Kadhi Chawal. Moreover, Bhuvneshwar is very fond of Urad ki daal (black gram) made by his mom.
The right-arm pacer is also recuperating from an injury setback and featured recently at the DY Patil T20 Cup. He was due to line-up for the national team against South Africa, but the ODI series was called off due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Ravichandran Ashwin:
The veteran all-rounder who is a big threat for other teams is surprisingly a Mumma’s boy as Ashwin likes only homemade food prepared by his mother.
Whenever he gets free from his busy schedule he makes sure to have homemade food especially, Ashwin loves paneer capsicum that his mother prepares. Being a vegetarian, it comes as no surprise that Ashwin is injury-free, even at the fag end of his career.

Making a return from a back injury, Pandya recently hit a swashbuckling 158 run knock, in just 55 balls in the DY Patil T20 Cup.

The man who is fondly called ‘Gabbar’ by fans and his loved ones, is said to have a keen interest in Thai food.
Shikhar also likes aloo paratha and Hyderabadi biryani.
