Indian Players Wear New Test Jerseys In Practice Match Against West Indies A - Watch Video

The Indian players got the first taste of wearing new jerseys with their names and numbers on the back when they stepped on to the field in the three-day practice match against West Indies A at Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua. The rule of having their names and numbers behind the jerseys was came into effect wit the start of Ashes 2019.

Since then, players from Australia, England, Sri Lanka and New Zealand have worn these jerseys. Indian players also got their first taste of these jerseys yesterday. Next week, they will be wearing these in the first Test as well. Here’s the first look of players wearing new jerseys –

It wasn’t a great day out for many batsmen in the practice match before the starts of Test series. Mayank Agarwal was dismissed on 12 while KL Rahul failed to convert his start into a big one. He was dismissed on 36 off 46.
Cheteshwar Pujara again shone with the bat and scored a century off 187 deliveries. He retired after scoring a century to let other batsmen assimilate to the conditions.

Ajinkya Rahane did not have a long stay on the crease and was dismissed for just 1. He has been out of form of late, which is a big worry for the Indian cricket team going int the Test series
Rohit Sharma pressed a case for selection in the 1st Test with his 68 off 115. Hanuma Vihari, who is vying for a place in the middle-order, was 37* off 101 at stumps.

Rishabh Pant, who is expected to keep the wickets ahead of Wriddhiman Saha, got 33 off 53. Saha hasn’t come out to bat yet and it could be a clear indication that Rishabh will keep his spot in the playing XI. He has done well in the absence of Saha,
At stumps, India were five down on 297 with Vihari and Ravindra Jadeja out in the middle. Both the batsmen will look to get to a big score on day 2.
The two-match Test series starts on August 22 in Antigua. The second Test will be played in Jamaica from August 30.
