Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-Ul-Haq, who is serving now as the national selector of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will return to the cricketing field after a prolonged gap of 11 years – to feature in an annual festival match.

Meanwhile, Inzamam was Pakistan’s one of the finest batsmen at the world stage.

The former batsman served Pakistan cricket for 15 years and has several records to boast about.

He has 11,739 One-day International runs to his name in 378 matches while he scored 8,830 runs in 120 Test outings.

However, after having an illustrious career, Inzamam decided to bid adieu to cricket in 2007.

Along with the likes of Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Yousuf, and Younis Khan, he made a strong batting line-up. It was his sheer dedication on the field while batting that later saw Pakistan produce some megastars who could carry the legacy of batsmanship in the country.

Post-retirement, he took over as Afghanistan’s head coach in October 2015. He began his tenure by helping Afghanistan win their first ODI and T20I series against a Full Member.

Celebrated cricketer guided Afghanistan to qualify for the Super 10s in the 2016 World T20.

Meanwhile, in April 2016, PCB appointed him as the chief selector despite having no experience in the role at any level.

Returns to the cricket field

It will be a treat for the Pakistan fans to see a glimpse of the legend again. He will play an Annual Festival Match at the Muslim Gymkhana Cricket Club on April 30 at the Lahore City Cricket Association ground.

The 48-year-old Inzamam will be leading his side Inzamamul Haq XI against his opponent who will be led by discarded Test cricketer Taufeeq Umar.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Gymkhana has produced many quality players who have played at the international level. These players include Inzamamul Haq, Ahmed Shehzad, Taufeeq Umar, Aqib Javed, Mujahid Jamshed to name a few.

However, Inzamam-Ul-Haq recently received a lot of criticism after he announced Pakistan’s squad for England tour.

Sarfraz Ahmed and his men will play a Test in Ireland followed by two Test in England.
