IPL 2018: Andrew McDonald All Set to be Given a Full-Time Contract by RCB

Andre McDonald, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling coach, is all set to receive a full-time contract from the franchise, a report in TOI suggests.

McDonald was the bowling coach of the franchise in the last season along with Bharat Arun – who is now the bowling coach of the Indian cricket team.

As per the new rules of BCCI, no coach associated with the Indian team at any level is allowed to coach any other state or franchise and is bound by the rules, Arun had to leave his job at RCB. His exit has seen McDonald getting a promotion and now, he is all set to be offered a full-time contract by the franchise.

Already, there are talks of team appointing Gary Kirsten as their batting coach. Though, Daniel Vettori will continue to be the Head Coach of the side. Also, Ashish Nehra will also be one of the backroom staff members and will perform the role of the mentor, the reports had suggested earlier.

The rule of BCCI of not allowing a contracted coach to render his services to any other team has already seen many coaches leaving their job at other teams.

Apart from Bharat Arun, coaches like R Sridhar, Paras Mhambrey, Sanjay Bangar and few others gave up their job at IPL. Recently, KXIP also appointed Brad Hodge as their Head Coach after the exit of Sanjay Bangar.

Meanwhile, the dates of the upcoming auctions also got confirmed. The auction will take place on January 27 and 28 in Bangalore. It will be a two-day affair where many players will go under the hammer. It will be a mega auction this time which means the franchises will have almost to form a new team, as they are allowed to retain only three past players.

Also, they can retain two more players by the use of Right to Match card on the auction day.
