IPL 2018: Delhi Daredevils' Top Stars Battling Injuries
There is absolutely no respite for Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. The Gautam Gambhir-led side has failed to impress with their performances and their on-field troubles have now been compounded with injury worries to two of their top foreign recruits.
According to a report in the Times of India, Jason Roy and Chris Morris are battling injuries at the moment. Roy, who starred in Delhi’s only win in the tournament so far, is down with a left side strain. The England opener also had to go through a precautionary MRI.
On the other hand, hard-hitting allrounder Morris is recuperating from a back injury . The injury had kept the Proteas star out of Delhi’s first home game against the Kings XI Punjab on Monday.
But despite the injury setbacks, the Daredevils are not too concerned and are hopeful of seeing the duo back in action.
“Roy’s MRI scan is awaited and we are also hoping to see Morris recovering well before the next game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday,” a source said.
Time is running out for the Daredevils in the ongoing season. One of the pre-tournament favourites, the Daredevils have failed to come up with all round performances. As a result, they are languishing at the bottom of the table, having managed just one win in 6 games.
Their only win came against Mumbai Indians. Jason Roy had scored 91 to help Delhi chase down a huge 195. But apart from that, the team has not quite managed to impress so far. Even in the last game, they failed to chase down a modest 143 against Kings XI Punjab at home. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually restricted to 139 for 8.
