Rajasthan Royals (RR) leg-spinner, Ish Sodhi revealed his admiration for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) skipper Ravichandran Ashwin‘s leg-spin.
Meanwhile, Ashwin recently added this variation to his armory, as he eyes to get back his ODI spot.
The 25-year old Sodhi went unsold at the auctions of the league early this year. However, the Royals roped him as the replacement of injured Afghanistan leg-spinner, Zahir Khan.
While wrist spinners are dominating the tournament, Sodhi is raring to make a mark for Rajasthan. So far, Sodhi ranked number four among T20 bowlers in the world has played only one game.
Rashid has been phenomenal
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) leg-spinner Rashid Khan has set the benchmark for leg-spinners in the tournament. Sodhi feels the young leg-spinner bowls with great control and has led Hyderabad’s bowling unit.
“He has been phenomenal. The way he bowls different variations with control is remarkable. He has played a pivotal role in the success of Sunrisers Hyderabad and (skipper) Kane Williamson has backed him,” Hindustan Times quoted Sodhi.
The Ludhiana-born Sodhi feels this IPL has brought the spinners in the limelight and this is not the end. He feels there are a lot of things spinners have to offer to this game.
Fan of Ashwin’s leg-spin
India premier Test off-spinner and Punjab skipper, Ravichandran Ashwin has found a fan in Ish Sodhi.
The leg-spinner from New Zealand admired the way Ashwin brought changes in the bowling and also hailed Mujeeb Ur Rahaman for KXIP’s success.
“I am a big fan of Ashwin’s leg-breaks. It’s commendable the way he has improvised in an effort to make more impact even after claiming over 500 wickets for India. And the way he has been guiding Mujeeb as an experienced campaigner has reflected in Kings XI Punjab’s success,” added Sodhi.
Meanwhile, the Royals have struggled in this league and are languishing in the bottom half of the table. They need to put their acts together and come good as a team.
