The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League has seen in a fair share of dramas and actions.
After the first phase of the tournament, Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab sit pretty at the top of the points table with five victories in the tournament so far.
Punjab has played a match extra. However, unlike the last three years, Punjab under the leadership of Ravichandran Ashwin has looked a rejuvenated unit. They have played some exceptional brand of cricket and looked one of the favourites to qualify for the playoffs.
One of the main reasons behind the success of Punjab has been the opening combination of Chris Gayle and KL Rahul.
The Karnataka lad, in particular, has looked in sublime form all through the tournament. In the opening match for Punjab, Rahul smashed the fastest IPL fifty. It 50 came off just 14 deliveries against the Delhi Daredevils which got them off to a winning start.

He has got Punjab off to sensational stars. The stylish stroke-maker has played some authentic cricketing shots. He has never done anything fancy which has allowed him to pile on runs with disdain. He has scored 268 runs in the tournament so far with a couple of half-centuries.
In Chris Gayle, he has found an able partner who is capable of destroying any bowling attack on his day.
Gayle has looked a class apart from the very first match. In five games so far, he has smashed a couple of half-centuries and a century which came against the top bowling attack Sunrisers Hyderabad.
However, Rahul has been their pillar at the top of the order and will continue to do so. He has to play a major role if Punjab harbours hope of lifting their maiden IPL title.
Meanwhile, Rahul shared a picture on his twitter handle where he can be seen executing a shot with his head high and elbows high. Sharing the picture he gave a caption,
“Coach, you proud of this? “Head still and Elbows high!” Just like you taught me. Forever Grateful to my coach Samuel Jayaraj.”
His coach will indeed be impressed with his performances so far.
